Master of Science in Internal Auditing and AI: Shaping the Future of Assurance and Analytics
With the establishment of the Mercator Audit and Artificial Intelligence Research Center (MAARC), a new master's program has also been launched at the Mercator School of Management at the University of Duisburg-Essen.
This two-year Master of Science (M.Sc.) program in Business Administration (4 semesters, full-time on-campus in Duisburg, Germany) allows students to deepen their knowledge in the areas of internal auditing and accounting with a strong focus on artificial intelligence.
Within this program, students will:
- Understand and apply the fundamental principles, methods, and working techniques of internal auditing, with a particular emphasis on data analysis methods using artificial intelligence.
- Gain foundational and advanced knowledge of the structure and functioning of an internal audit department.
- Access a comprehensive overview of current standards and frameworks in internal auditing.
- Develop a deeper understanding of corporate strategy and leadership and learn how to assess them.
- Apply audit processes, including risk-based audit planning, the risk catalogs of the German Institute of Internal Auditors (DIIR), on-site audits, reporting, and follow-up activities.
- Leverage interdisciplinary competencies by applying AI-based methodologies across industries.
This master's program has been specifically designed to meet the growing demand for highly qualified graduates with technological expertise in internal auditing. It aims to optimally prepare students for a career in internal audit, as well as in other business areas where auditing skills or technological understanding of artificial intelligence and data analytics are essential. By combining two rapidly growing and increasingly important fields, students acquire a broad and versatile skill set applicable to all industries.
